Upcoming Conference Visits
Each year, a group of SPS members travels to one or more physics conferences where students can gain presentation experience and observe recent trends in research areas. If you would like to attend or present at the Southeastern Section of the American Physical Society meeting in Milledgeville, Georgia (November 14-16, 2017), please fill out our SESAPS form, and likewise for the American Astronomical Society meeting in Washington D.C. (January 8-12, 2018), please fill out our AAS form.
Annual Pumpkin Drop
The Society of Physics Students hosts an Annual Pumpkin Drop. We start with music, drinks, and student organizations (including activities and goodies). Then we have a free costume contest, for anyone who would like to participate, that includes prizes for various categories. We also bring out some of our more rarely appearing demos such as the bed of nails and cornstarch run. The final event is the actual dropping of pumpkins, big and small, that have been frozen in Liquid Nitrogen so that they shatter upon impact. This event will be free and open to both the university and public. We invite student organizations to contact us (see below) if they would like to have a table. Please select one or more positions on our volunteer form to make this event happen!

Annual ħ Dinner Party
To commemorate a successful year involved with SPS, the group meets in early May for an awards ceremony. The awards cover a wide range of recognitions (both serious and humorous), and the event keeps the group's spirits high when entering the summer.
